The lovely people of Under Consideration were so good to feature my cards on their FPO blog. Since some of the most interesting – and just plain nice – print work in the world gets featured on FPO I consider this as a huge honour. Thanks alot, FPO!
Check my link out over at the FPO [...]
It’s been a while:
It’s been a while indeed. I actually have alot of blogposts in draft but I didn’t really feel the need to complete them and if I don’t complete drafts nothing gets posted. Hence: the absence of posts. But why?
My focus is expanding:
Where I was used to developing flash content for the interweb [...]
Greenpartners is a co-ooperative producers’ association of 73 vegetable growers and was in need for a new website so Murten Saerbi jumped up and made one for them! A really nice one, even if we say so ourselves. Don’t take our word for it: go check it out yourself over at greenpartners.be
The problem:
Our flashmovie fetches a Timestamp (UNIX) from some kind of backend code and you need to change this to a workable Date format. It’s actually pretty easy and almost totally standard in flash!
Note:
Flash handles time in milliseconds (think about the timerclass that expects 3000 if you want to time 3 seconds) and the UNIX [...]
After the highly successful absolut band website the sexiest agency of Belgium (or atleast the hottest cowboys of Antwerp) asked Murten Saerbi once again to work with them on a new project: Samsung’s bepaal het verhaal (dutch)!
The idea is simple: read the picture story on the website and fill in an sms on the Samsung [...]
This is totally unrelated to flash or even webdesign in general but really crazy nonetheless.
I was driving home from a late meeting and suddenly spotted a huge cloud of black smoke hanging above my hometown. While getting closer and closer I started to see the flames coming out above the houses and by the time [...]

“A new Murten Saerbi post!” your mail/twitter/rss feed said. But it couldn’t be more wrong: you were deceived by the mighty interweb.
I currently have loads to do (which is good and I will definately show you proof of this bold statement) but I actually wrote down some useful none-Murten-is-great related posts aswell and am in [...]
A local company that specializes in public works, both industrial and residential projects, driveways and swimming pools was on the lookout for a website that would represent their solid work and healthy growth on the internet.
A slick and easy-to-use navigation together with a modern design is exactly what Houwelyckx wegenbouw needed and goes nicely together [...]
Grande Home is all about light-switching-technology: They sell touchscreen switches with a nice design for a very affordable price.
Since they promote themselves at just about every workshop or renovation, building or decoration event we at Murten Saerbi had to deliver them something good looking to instantly show the people just how cool their switches are. [...]
Together with the funkiest cowboys in Belgium (or perhaps even the world) Murten Saerbi made it possible for Tim vanhamel to search a band.
If you are a musician and are freaky/deaky enough to play with Tim vanhamel just start recording yourself and apply on the absolut band website. You can apply for drums, guitar and [...]

Very nice looking. Great texture to it too.
White text looks like a foil, but it looks too sharp and precise for the foil. How is it printed exactly ? And what is the stock ?

Hey Alex,
Thanks for replying and I’m glad you like it.
The paper is called Sirio black. There are a couple of weights available. I went for the 480 gr/m² version.
Pretty thick, I know, but it gives the card a nice feeling.
The foil for the logo is a varnish that has been screen printed (serigraph). The white you speak off is actually a silver drop ink, it’s the light that makes it shine a bit.
The silver I used here can be printed as a spot color.
If you want I can send you some cards.
Kind regards,
Maarten Serneels

Hey I love the business cards, really nicely finished, its obvious you’ve put a lot of thought into its printing methods and over all production, I bet they look great in the flesh!

Hey David,
Thanks! I really love them. At first I was a bit skeptic about the thickness but now I recommend atleast 350 gr/m² to everyone.
It really feels like a card you don’t throw away and that really was (and still is) important to me.
Hey, if you want I can send you some, just send me your address and I’ll make sure they get there.
Kind regards,
Maarten Serneels

I’d love to. And I can send some of mine
Drop me an email at the address of this comment. I have a small question regarding the screenprinting you used.
